Captain’s Log, Stardate 20120422. iPhone 4s and I decided to start some adventures. One, because I need to exercise and two, because I need something to blog about. But mostly the exercise. Which I hate. And, well, it shows.<\/p>\n

So I got up bright and early to head out into the big wide world. I gathered the essentials: fanny pack, diary (in case I thought of something amazing I’d need to write down), keys (always important), purple coin purse with driver’s license, insurance cards, debit card and some cash – you never know what you might need out there!, and the iPhone in its purple case.<\/p>\n

Oh! And my favorite shoes: Vibram Five Fingers. Love these shoes.<\/p>\n

I know you can’t see it in this image, but the iPhone is telling me it’s 43 degrees outside. A little chilly but doable.<\/p>\n

So I gathered my things, threw on my jacket and headed outside. It was 7:15 in the morning. Here you can see the gas station (prices ranging from $4.59 t0 $4.82); and my church (and place of employment).<\/p>\n

I slowly make my across LaSalle Street and find the tunnel that goes under North Avenue. I noticed these light fixtures on a previous walk, so this time I took a shot of them. The “glass” on top gives it a modern architectural feel. Too bad you can’t actually see the glass if you’re on top of North Avenue. Oh well.<\/p>\n

The morning was a lot windier than anticipated, so my hands stayed in my pockets for most of the walk, but I did eventually make it to Lake Michigan. It was a little too cold to walk lakeside because of the whipping wind, but I snapped a couple of quick pics and headed back across the bridge.<\/p>\n

This shot is next to Lake Shore Drive (you can see a few cars there on the right). I know at the north end of this “pond” they have kayaking, but I don’t remember ever seeing them come this far south.<\/p>\n

Finally, I cut my way back across the south end of Lincoln Park, stopping to snap this shot of the Hancock building (and Water Tower Place). Then I thrust my hands back into my pockets and headed to the warmth of my apartment.<\/p>\n

The walk took just a little over an hour – I’m a very slow walker. But I got in a good amount of exercise and a couple cool shots. I may wait until after church to do my Sunday walk – it’ll be a little warmer.
